Backyard Pittsburgh Wedding: Courtney and Jake Tie the Knot

I love a good backyard Pittsburgh wedding. Every time I work with a couple who decides to use private family property it makes me want to go and purchase a similar place of my own! I can totally see our kids having their birthday parties, graduation gatherings and one-day weddings there. It’s the sappy dad in me! Courtney and Jake’s wedding is totally fabulous and I love the relaxed and unified vibe the day has.

Here’s more from Courtney on their day, story and more:

What was your inspiration behind your wedding day?
We first got married at Bonnaroo in Tennessee. Bonnaroo is a music festival that we fell in love with a few years ago and HAD to get married there because of the vibe, music and people! We wanted to have an at home picnic style wedding for friends and family that couldn’t go to Bonnaroo! We wanted to pull in the festival vibe for our inspiration!

Advice to share with brides planning now?
Have your wedding your way! Don’t dwell on what others do and be very true to yourself and how you and your significant other want to have the day go! Also do not get hung up on the things that might go wrong. You will find so much more joy in your day if you are more laid back about the whole thing!!!!

How did you and your spouse meet?
We met in college through Greek life. Many different encounters at events before we started to talk and date!

Proposal Details! How did it happen? 🙂
Jake proposed at Hocking Hills Ohio (note from Steve, we did their engagement session there too!) when we were all on a friends trip to a cabin. Courtney rowed out to a dock in the middle of the lake. All of our friends were hanging out on rafts and kayaks. And when I got out of the boat to hop onto the deck Jake had the ring and asked away 🙂 !

What was your favorite memory from your big day?
At the very end of the night a handful of us sat out on the roof of my house and watched fireworks! It was an amazing end to the night!
